200-Hour Teacher Training
Parmarth Niketan + The Yoga Institute
15 January – 15 February, 2027 | Parmarth Niketan Ashram, Rishikesh
We are delighted to announce a new partnership between Parmarth Niketan, Rishikesh and The Yoga Institute, Mumbai, bringing together two of India's most revered yogic traditions in a shared commitment to authentic yoga education.
Rooted in the sacred Himalayas and enriched by over a century of classical yogic teaching, this collaboration honours the timeless wisdom that yoga belongs to every sincere seeker.
It is a confluence of Sanyas and Grahastha Parampara—where the path of renunciation and the path of the householder meet, reminding us that inner transformation is possible whether we live in an ashram or in the world.
Together, we look forward to nurturing the next generation of yoga teachers through a programme grounded in tradition, integrity, service, and lived experience.
A confluence of two living streams of yoga, where the wisdom of the Himalayan ashram tradition meets over a century of excellence in integrating yoga into everyday life.
A Confluence of Two Living Traditions
This Yoga Teacher Training Course represents a profound confluence of two of India’s most respected yogic institutions: Parmarth Niketan and The Yoga Institute, each carrying a unique yet complementary expression of the timeless science of yoga.
Nestled on the holy banks of Maa Ganga in the lap of the Himalayas, Parmarth Niketan embodies the spirit of Sanyas Parampara: a life dedicated to spiritual discipline, selfless service, contemplation, and alignment with the Vedic way of life. For decades, it has welcomed seekers from around the world to immerse themselves in yoga as a way of being: one that is inseparable from devotion, meditation, compassion, and service to humanity.
The Yoga Institute, with its pioneering legacy of more than a century, has demonstrated that the highest ideals of yoga are not confined to the monastery or the mountains, but can be lived fully within the home, the workplace, and society. As one of the foremost exponents of the Grahastha Parampara, it has empowered generations of practitioners to integrate authentic yogic principles into the rhythms and responsibilities of daily life.
H.H. Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji, President of Parmarth Niketan, and Pujya Maa Dr. Hansaji Yogendra, Director of The Yoga Institute
Together, these two traditions offer a rare and holistic vision of yoga. Rather than viewing renunciation and household life as opposing paths, this partnership recognises them as complementary expressions of the same timeless wisdom. One nurtures inward stillness amidst the sacred silence of the Himalayas; the other cultivates equanimity amidst the responsibilities of family, work, and community. Both ultimately lead towards the same goal: self-realisation through conscious living.
This collaboration therefore represents far more than a joint certification programme. It is a meeting of lineages, of lived experience and disciplined study, of ancient wisdom and contemporary application. It honours yoga in its fullest sense—as a path that transcends circumstance and invites every individual, regardless of life stage or vocation, into greater balance, awareness, and union.
By bringing these two living traditions together, the programme offers students an opportunity to experience yoga in its complete spectrum: from the contemplative depths of spiritual practice to its compassionate expression in everyday life.
It is an invitation to discover that the essence of yoga lies not in choosing between renunciation and engagement, but in cultivating presence, purpose, and inner freedom wherever life unfolds.
