Vedantic Path to Self-Realisation – 3

January 3 – 15, 2027

A Journey through Vivekachudamani

This beautiful two-week course is designed for sincere seekers who wish to deepen their understanding of Vedanta and continue their journey towards Self-realisation. Building upon the foundational teachings of Tattva Bodha, this course explores Vivekachudamani (The Crest Jewel of Discrimination), one of the most revered works of Jagadguru Adi Shankaracharya. This timeless scripture unfolds the practical path to liberation (Moksha), revealing that the lasting peace, happiness and freedom we seek are not to be found in the external world, but in the discovery of our own true nature. Through the light of Self-knowledge, it guides us beyond ignorance, suffering and limitation to the recognition of our eternal Self.

The course will take participants through selected verses of Vivekachudamani, unfolding its profound teachings in a systematic and accessible manner. We will explore the qualifications of a spiritual seeker, the importance of discrimination between the Real and the unreal, freedom from attachment, mastery over the mind and senses, the invaluable role of the Guru, and the method of Self-enquiry that culminates in the direct recognition of the identity of Ātman and Brahman. More than a philosophical text, Vivekachudamani is a practical guide for transforming knowledge into lived experience and discovering the inner freedom that is our very nature.

Each session will combine scriptural study with reflection and contemplation, enabling participants to apply these timeless teachings to the challenges of everyday life. As the text unfolds verse by verse, it reveals not only the means to Self-realisation but also the vision of the Jivanmukta—one who lives in the world with wisdom, peace, compassion and complete freedom. The teachings inspire us to recognise that liberation is not something to be attained in the future, but the discovery of what we have always been.

Complementing the scriptural study will be the serene spiritual environment of Parmarth Niketan Ashram. The course will include twice-daily Yoga Asana classes, meditation on the sacred banks of Mother Ganga, morning walks, participation in Yajna, the uplifting Ganga Aarti and evening Satsang, creating a beautiful immersive experience that supports both the understanding and assimilation of these sacred teachings. Surrounded by the grace of the Himalayas and Ma Ganga, participants will have the opportunity to study, reflect and awaken to the timeless wisdom of Vedanta in an atmosphere of peace, devotion and inner transformation.

Please note this program ends at 1 pm on the last day. Do plan your departure from the Ashram accordingly preferably after lunch.
