The Roots of Yoga: Exploring the Yoga Sutras, Samkhya, and the Essence of Yogic Living
June 15th – 20th, 2026
Join us at Parmarth Niketan, Rishikesh, from 15th–20th June for a five-day immersive introduction to the foundations of yoga philosophy, designed to prepare the mind and heart for the celebration of International Yoga Day.
This retreat-style course will explore the timeless teachings of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, the Samkhya philosophy, and related yogic texts — offering seekers a clear understanding of the roots, purpose, and transformative power of yoga beyond the mat.
Through daily discourses, guided reflections, meditation, and gentle asana practice, participants will be introduced to the essential framework of yogic thought — including the eight limbs of yoga (Ashtanga Yoga), the principles of Purusha and Prakriti, the causes of suffering (kleshas), and the path to liberation (kaivalya).
The course provides both philosophical clarity and practical insight, helping participants integrate these teachings into daily life with awareness, balance, and devotion.
